Indicators

The Swiss Open Access Monitor provides the following indicators:

“Open Access shares of scholarly publications by resource types authored by persons affiliated to a Swiss HEI published within a calendar year which are available Open Access at the time of data collection or Closed.”

[Open Access shares] “basic” and “advanced” as described under Open Access typology.
[Scholarly publications by resource types] as described under resource types.
[Authored by persons affiliated to a Swiss HEI] created by (co-)authors during their affiliation to the participating swissuniversities member. Not limiting the delivery to corresponding or first/last authors has two reasons. Firstly, not all institutional repositories are currently equipped to deliver the data in that way. Secondly, with some disciplines, the differentiation between corresponding/first/last author is less relevant. This practice results in the same article being claimed by different institutions, depending on the authors’ affiliations.
[Published within a calendar year] may be main issue date or first online publication date, or other publication date commonly used.
[Available Open Access at the time of data collection]: content which is embargoed at the time of the data collection would be defined as Closed.
